A Cop Kills Two But Is Not Punished

There were protests against the big tax increase in the city. Everyone - adults, youngsters, men, women was on the street. The crowd was walking towards the parliament. They wanted to send a clear communication to the government that the people who elected them were not happy with the decision.

Looking at the number of people on the streets,
the Inspector General went to the City Magistrate and asked him for permission to shoot in case the the crowd became rowdy and uncontrollable. The City Magistrate listened to the arguments and finally passed a court order to shoot if the protestors attacked the police or tried to destroy public property. Due to the court order, the Inspector General asked his secretary to send messages to all police stations advising them of the court order.

The protestors on a street seemed very unhappy. When the cops blocked their way, they started throwing stones at the cops. The cops fired tear gas shells. But some young boys started beating a cop. Seeing this, the officer who was present warned the protestors on a speaker to stay in control or bullets will be fired. The agitation in the protestors increased with that announcement. More people
started fighting with the cops. The officer now fired 5 rounds and some people were injured. They were immediately moved to a hospital. However, two of them died on the way.

The next day, everyone was surprised to read in the news that the inspector who reportedly killed two young men was rewarded instead of getting punished.

Shan, a reporter asked the Inspector General in a media interview - Why was the officer rewarded? Didn't he kill two innocent people?

The IG said - The police had the right to shoot as per a court order. So, the officer cannot be punished. Instead, he tried all easier options before electing to shoot and prevented a possibility of hundreds of deaths. And that is why we rewarded him.

Moral of the story

A murderer kills his enemy due to his enmity and hatred. His mind is clearly attached to the mischiefs
his victim had been doing to harm him. So this person had a clear intention to kill and must be punished.

On the other hand, Hanuman Ji, Lakshman and Arjun killed thousands but had no love or hate for their victims. They were simply doing their duty. In fact, they were thinking of God in their mind all the time. Hence, they cannot be punished.

Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj teaches us that it is the intention of the mind that matters and not the deed of the senses that gets rewarded or punished.
