Postpone The Bad Deeds. Do The Good Deeds Right Away

Ravan was dying after being shot by Lord Ram.
Lord Ram asked Lakshman - O Lakhsman! Go immediately and get some advice from Ravan. Remember, he is a scholar of all the four Vedas.

Lakshman bowed down to Lord Ram and went to see Ravan.

Ravan smiled and said - You are my enemy. I am surprised that You have come to get my instruction. But listen to me carefully.

Ravan continued – O Lakshman! If a good deed comes to your mind, do it right away. However, if a bad deed - to murder someone, to scold someone, to abuse someone occurs to you, postpone it. It is possible that in the future, you may change your mind. If you were thinking of doing a good deed and you postponed it, it would be a spiritual loss.

Moral of the Story

Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj referred to this example to explain the importance of devotional
activities in our life.

Human Life is extremely important because this is one and only form in which the soul can earn spiritual wealth. All other forms only get a life based on their deeds of previous human births.

If one has realized that his objective is to attain God, then he should not postpone his devotional activities (Sadhana). This is because the individual does not know when death will come. He should do his devotion as if this is the last chance God has given him to do his Sadhana.
