Only A Genuine Guide Can Lead Us To God

Chandu was blind from birth. He had learnt to live on his own over years of his childhood
and youth. But as he was getting older, he always felt a need of some support to help him lead through the remaining years of his life.

The other thing was that the traffic in his area was increasing and it was very difficult to find
his way safely back to his home. Once, in the hustle and bustle of the market where he went to buy some food, he was stuck for a long time to cross a road.

He then heard a voice."Come, I will take you home!" The voice was unknown to him but he thought it must be a noble person who is offering to help. And so, he lent his hand forward.

The other person introduced himself as Suraj and mentioned that he was his neighbor. Suraj held Chandu's hand and started leading him.

Suddenly, Chandu felt that his feet were on slippery ground and he slipped into a ditch. Suraj fell into that ditch too.

The fact was that Suraj was also blind and was leading Chandu home only by virtue of his best guesses.

Moral of the Story

The story teaches us that in pursuit of our spiritual goals, we should be careful that we have a theoretical as well as practical guide who has seen the path and knows the destination.

If our guide is in the same situation as us, who knows we both will have to go to hell.
