Control The Mind with The Power Of Intellect - 1

Jalebis
A small kid was going to school. On the way, he saw a shopkeeper making jalebis (a sweet delicacy in India). He saw the jalebi and his mouth watered. He really wanted to eat it.

But he was disappointed that he had no money. How would he buy it?

Well, there was another option. He could steal it. The desire made his mind think that he could get the jalebi with this action plan.

But then the intellect objected. If you steal, you will get beaten by the shopkeeper. And the objection was real. He knew that could happen.

So he let go the desire.

Moral of the story

The lesson we get here is that our mind is made to make desires. And the desires can be really strong. Once the desire is made, we start planning to fulfill it.

But there are principles laid down by the scriptures and the saints, there are laws both in the world and the spiritual world. And there are punishments if we break these laws. Our intellect should be built with these principles and laws.

And just like the kid's intellect stopped him from stealing, we should use the power of our intellect to control our mind.
